About the Role
The Volunteer Participant Liaison plays a crucial role in supporting individuals returning from incarceration as they transition back into the community. This person serves as a compassionate point of contact, helping participants feel heard, valued, and connected to the resources and relationships they need to thrive. Through regular check-ins, referrals, and encouragement, the Liaison helps reduce isolation and builds trust with our program participants.
Responsibilities Include:
Participant Engagement & Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for participants, ensuring consistent and respectful communication.
- Check in regularly via phone, text, or in person to build trust and track progress.
- Help participants feel seen, heard, and supported in their reentry journey
Resource Navigation
- Provide information on available GLO Phoenix programs and make internal referrals as needed
- Support participants in filling out forms or applications when requested
Coordination & Communication
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to relay participant needs, preferences, or barriers
- Schedule appointments or follow-ups as needed and ensure participants are reminded
- Help coordinate logistics for participants attending events, workshops, or meetings
Documentation & Feedback
- Record participant interactions, needs, and progress in a secure and confidential manner
- Flag urgent concerns or unmet needs to program leadership
- Collect informal feedback to improve services and participant experience
Advocacy & Empowerment
- Encourage participants to set goals and take steps toward independence
- Model positive interactions, problem-solving, and resilience
- Support a strengths-based, non-judgmental environment
Requirements
This volunteer role requires a commitment of 2-4 hours per week.
