A Donor’s Perspective: Why I Support Greater Love Phoenix

“This is the purest form of charity I’ve ever seen.”

After living in Pittsburgh for 55 years, I’ve seen the city's needs up close, especially for those trying to climb their way out of hardship. That’s why I support the work of Pastor Robert Higgs and Greater Love Outreach Phoenix. There’s no red tape. No bureaucracy. Just real people, meeting fundamental needs, with compassion and integrity.

What Pastor Robert and his wife, Maryann, are doing, especially with their transportation program, is truly remarkable. They’re helping folks who have nothing get to a job interview, a court appointment, or a doctor’s office. Sometimes, it’s just about being able to visit a loved one. These aren’t luxuries—they’re lifelines.

And let me tell you: every dollar I give, I know it’s being used wisely. There’s not a wasted cent. That’s rare.

I stay in touch with Pastor Robert personally. When he shares stories like the one about the young man using a bus pass to care for his aging father (Arthur’s story), I see the impact. I feel it.

I’ve asked that the organization also speak out against anti-Semitism. It means something to me that Pastor Robert honors that request and stands with Israel and the Jewish community, just as we’ve stood with the Black community for generations. That kind of solidarity is powerful—and necessary.

So yes, I’ll keep writing checks. I want this mission to thrive. Because in a world full of noise, this is a place where real love still shows up.
